About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh’s vibrant Stenhouse Cross, Sitooterie is much more than your typical coffee shop — it’s a charming local gem where hearty, honest food meets a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Perfect for early risers and casual brunch lovers alike, Sitooterie invites you to unwind with a menu that celebrates comforting classics elevated with fresh, quality ingredients.

The breakfast offerings are nothing short of a Scottish feast. Whether you opt for the Large Breakie boasting two link sausages, bacon, tattie scone, black pudding, haggis, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, and a fried egg for £12.00, or prefer a lighter Small Breakie, each plate promises a satisfying start to your day. Vegetarians are well-catered for too, with the Vegi Breakie delivering two perfectly fried eggs and wholesome sides. The skillful preparation shines especially in the eggs — customers have raved about the beautifully runny yolks that showcase the chef’s deft touch.

Beyond breakfast, Sitooterie’s menu features standout items like their luscious peppercorn steak roll, delightfully paired with fresh tomatoes that add an unexpected yet remarkable twist. The Hamburger and Chicken Sandwich are perennial favorites, each bursting with flavors that resonate with both locals and visitors. Don’t miss the Steak Brunch Special for something heartier – it’s a declaration of Sitooterie’s commitment to honest, satisfying food.

Coffee at Sitooterie is a craft in itself — the perfect cup of flat white or cappuccino is a must-try, ideal for sipping while basking in the sunlit ambiance of the cozy dining space. The shop’s inviting window seats offer a charming nook to relax, soak in the natural light, and watch life unfold on the street. It’s these little touches — the friendly service where you’re greeted with warmth and endearing nicknames like ‘honey’ — that make every visit feel personal and genuine.

Reviews from regulars paint a vivid picture of what makes Sitooterie special. Ali Graham calls it “the main stop” in the area for the best steak roll, while Steven Lindsay champions their breakfast rolls as unbeatable, fresh, and far superior to chain alternatives nearby. Megan Wilson appreciates the food's attractive presentation and the exquisite savory taste, especially the runny scrambled eggs. Dog owners and coffee lovers like Steven Haldane highlight how welcoming and comforting the environment is, making it a spot for the whole family—including your furry friends. And for those on the go, Luca Kahn praises the generous vegetarian options and value for money, promising a return visit.

From the carefully curated hot and cold drink selections to the thoughtfully crafted menu items, Sitooterie is a sincere ode to good food and friendly service. It’s a place where every bite and every cup feels like a warm embrace — authentic, satisfying, and utterly Edinburgh.

If you find yourself in EH11, make Sitooterie your destination for a truly memorable breakfast or brunch experience.

The food here is lovely. If you want a breakfast or filled roll with quality food (not the usual cheap crap) at a very reasonable price then definitely give this place a try. You won’t be able to resist going back again and again. Owners are really friendly too.
